In Reality

In reality is where many a lib/fool and environut live. America would be self suffcient in providing all of our energy needs if so many boneheaded regulations and red tape were not inflicted by those who think we should be living in huts and riding bikes. We need more oil drilling in safer areas, and we need nuke plants built asap.

reality:

  • Statistical measures of offshore safety performance improved significantly throughout the Bush years.

  • Ditto the drilling well blowout incident rate.

  • Bush-era internal investigations led to significant improvement in ethics throughout the organization.

  • The Bush Administration increased royalty rates on new leases for the first time in recent memory.

Red State Blog Has The Right Take On The Current Oil Spill

Q: Why was BP drilling in 5,000 ft of water?

Hint: BP wasn\'t drilling in 5,000 ft because it was cheap, fun or emotionally fulfilling.

The answer is, because we demanded it, you and I.

“It” being a reasonably inexpensive, plentiful and secure supply of petroleum products, gasoline in particular. We don’t like gas lines or $8.00 per gallon. We really don’t like gas lines and $8.00 per gallon.

(And “we” includes every American, with the possible exception of St. Ed Begley, Jr. )

We also decided that we didn’t want it to come from our own back yards. It shouldn’t mess up our postcard views from 30 story condo developments. We also decided we didn’t want it to interfere with the nesting season of the sage grouse or the mating habits of the pronghorn antelope.

We want gasoline to be as reliable as electricity, and we don’t want to give any thought to where it comes from.

Was this Emerson's dirty little blog secret?  So much for Mr. Town Crier!  See the previous blog below for the erased post!

Emerson Update

I just received word of a couple of details that I got slightly wrong. First, there was not a police report filed, the lady spoke with the sheriff's department. Secondly, she was told to contact Emerson's probation officer, but she did not, because she can't prove this felon actually "intimidated" her. Looks like he will slip off the hook once again!
