During [America's] period of slavery, many freed blacks worked for years to purchase the freedom of family members. But a great many freemen became slave masters themselves, and for the same reason as whites--to make use of slave labor for the sake of profits. Larry Koger writes, "By and large, Negro slaveowners were darker copies of their white counterparts." Following are excerpts from Chapter 6 of his book, Black Slaveowners: Free Black Slave … Read More
By Michael A. Hoffman […] When White servitude is acknowledged as having existed in America, it is almost always termed as temporary “indentured servitude” or part of the convict trade, which, after the Revolution of 1776, centered on Australia instead of America. The “convicts” transported to America under the 1723 Waltham Act, perhaps numbered 100,000. The indentured servants who served a tidy little period of 4 to 7 years polishing the master’ … Read More

Philadelphia is expected to end the arrangement that permits federal immigration agents to scrutinize the city's computerized list of arrests, including country of origin and other data, Everett Gillison, the deputy mayor for public safety, said Sunday.
His announcement, which followed an hour of public testimony from immigrants about their fears and mistrust of the police, drew chants of Si, se puede! - Yes, we can! - from a mostly Latino audience that also included members of the city's Asian communities and a contingent of suburban supporters from the Central Baptist Church of Wayne.
Organized by a coalition of proimmigrant groups, including Juntos and the New Sanctuary Movement, the standing-room-only meeting took place in the basement of Annunciation Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary on South 10th Street. It was conducted mostly in Spanish, with electronic headsets available to permit simultaneous translation into English.

Officer Jones raced for the fence, thrust his arms through the steel bars and grabbed the man at the last possible second. He shouted for help. Officer Duke charged over and reached through the fence. He was able to grab hold of one of the jumper's arms.
In a 5-4 ruling in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, the high court upheld a California law school's denial of official recognition of a Christian student group - a group that refused, and rightly so, to allow non-Christians to become voting members or leaders.
The ACLJ filed an amicus brief with the Court in this case, representing numerous Christian campus organizations.
This is an extremely disappointing decision significantly damaging the constitutional rights of religious organizations. The majority of the Supreme Court missed the mark in understanding that it is fundamental to religious freedom that religious groups are free to define their own mission, select their own leaders, and determine their own membership criteria.
By permitting a discriminatory decision by the federal appeals court to stand, the Supreme Court decision represents, as Justice Alito correctly concluded in the dissent, ''a serious setback for freedom of expression in this country.'' And, we, like Justice Alito, hope this decision will be an aberration and not a shift in First Amendment jurisprudence.

"On immigration, there were things that we know now that we did not know then. Since 1970, there has been an increasing mismatch between the skill levels of the immigrants entering the United States and the U.S. labor force. This, combined with our lack of cultural self-confidence, has slowed the historic assimilation process. Some of this is due to sheer numbers. Much of it is due to the fact that the immigrants are choosing themselves: Half of the immigrants who have arrived in the last decade have come illegally; family reunification drives about 65 percent of legal immigration."
Peter Robinson has a piece in today's Wall Street Journal suggesting that Ronald Reagan might have liked George W. Bush's (and the old John McCain's) style on illegal immigration better than the new McCain's. He points to the 1986 amnesty and other examples of Reagan's openness to immigration. This includes all crimes, including those committed by illegal alien terrorists to illegal alien criminals who are currently molesting, raping, killing, and murdering Americans in shocking numbers.

Still, the public should consider it a brazen affront for this administration to feature Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson as a key speaker at a major conference sponsored later this month by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Common decency should disallow such a scandal.
On the grounds of image alone, Mr. Johnson sends the wrong message, considering that four different young women or teenage girls have accused Mr. Johnson of inappropriate sexual conduct. Three of the four were actually affiliated with the very institution, the St. Hope Academy, that was sponsored through CNCS grants. (CNCS is the parent body for the AmeriCorps national "volunteering" program.) In none of the cases were charges ever pressed, but one of the students said she was offered $1,000 per month in exchange for her silence, and two staff members resigned from St. Hope to protest how the academy tried (in the words of one of them) to "intimidate the student*." And in the first instance, in the summer of 1995, Mr. Johnson at one point agreed to pay the girl $230,000, according to the Sacramento Bee, after protesting that he "didn't recall us being a hundred percent naked" during the incident.
An old Social Security card with the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message.
Just in case some of you didn't know this, it's easy to check out if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!
Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message was removed.
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
No longer Voluntary
2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
Incomes into the Program,
on the first $90,000
3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,
No longer tax deductible
4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the
general operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,
Under Johnson (Democrat) the money was moved to
The General Fund and Spent
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.
Under Clinton & Gore (both Democrats)
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month --
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put
away' -- you may be interested in the following:Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the
general fund so that Congress could spend it?Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?Q: Which Political Party decided to start
giving annuity payments to immigrants?
Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it! ------------ -- ------------ --------- ----- ------------ --------- --------- Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),
the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! The worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it and believe that the Democrats are "for the people."
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe changes will
evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully
sure of what isn't so.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT (Congressional retirement system, not Social Security) FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM
1.) That participation in the Program would be
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ----
A: It was Lyndon Johnson (Democrat) and the democratically
controlled House and Senate.
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --
A: The Democratic Party.
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -----
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -
AND MY FAVORITE:
A: That's right!
But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?
Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.
If one Phoenix school district is any gauge, Hispanics in Arizona appear to be leaving the state in anticipation of the tough-on-illegal-immigration law that goes into effect at the end of July.
It's not clear how many of them are illegal immigrants, but the exodus could be evidence that the law is achieving its goal of driving out illegals even before it takes effect next month.

Pointing their rifles, Mexican security forces chased away U.S. authorities investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on the banks of the Rio Grande, the FBI and witnesses told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
The killing of the Mexican by U.S. authorities — the second in less than two weeks — has exposed the distrust between the two countries that lies just below the surface, and has enraged Mexicans who see the death of the boy on Mexican soil as an act of murder.
Mexico's government says the number of Mexicans injured by U.S. immigration authorities has increased this year.

The answer is, because we demanded it, you and I.
“It” being a reasonably inexpensive, plentiful and secure supply of petroleum products, gasoline in particular. We don’t like gas lines or $8.00 per gallon. We really don’t like gas lines and $8.00 per gallon.
(And “we” includes every American, with the possible exception of St. Ed Begley, Jr. )
We also decided that we didn’t want it to come from our own back yards. It shouldn’t mess up our postcard views from 30 story condo developments. We also decided we didn’t want it to interfere with the nesting season of the sage grouse or the mating habits of the pronghorn antelope.
We want gasoline to be as reliable as electricity, and we don’t want to give any thought to where it comes from.

Did Emerson Drake Of The Morning Mayor Show Threaten A Mom And Her Daughter?
I was not there, so I can’t say this event took place, but here is the exact words of the lady making the claim. She stated to me she was going to file a complaint with L/E since Emerson is currently a convicted felon. If this is true, he is once again guilty of the same behavior he attacks his enemies of using.
” I ran into Emerson the other day at Wal Mart in Turlock. I was walking up an isle with my daughter, he was standing at the end of the isle looking at me. He stared me down and then he stared my daughter down. He was talking to a woman, but I couldn’t see her, she was hiden behind another isle. I also recognized his voice. I walked down the isle and gave him a dirty look, and walked right by him. If he thinks he’s going to intimidate me, he better think again.”
p.s. Emerson, maybe your "lawyer" will want to tackle this? LOL!

These few protesters who are upset because a Mexican resident who was attempting to enter our country, illegally, was shot with a stun gun and died. A stun gun? Why? Ok jj, here is what I believe, and I had to post it here because the new rules do not allow for certain information to be posted.
I would not appear on The Morning Mayor Show for a couple of reasons I believe it would be a set up by Emerson Drake to try to provoke me into a physical confrontation. One that he would lose. A story would be fabricated to the police with the sole purpose of landing me in the clink. The other reason I will not participate on the show, is because I do not interact with felons; That is why Emerson Drake is, and those who refuse to pay their bills; That is what Carmen Sabatino is doing. Both these guys feel that they have been wronged and are out for revenge. I feel Emerson, and not Carmen, is more dangerous because he lies and because he is a felon. I have talked in person with him, and he comes across as a calm, pleasant, and honest guy. But after being the target of him on The Hive, I now know he is a sociopath and I would not be surprised if he resorted to violence for hire against those he feels have wronged him.
So this is why I would decline an offer to appear on the show.
And before I finish here, let me not forget Mr. Wayne Michaels of Modesto. For some reason you are slowly targeting me. Alluding to me as being, in your words, "a serial drunk driver." Sorry buddy, but you have crossed the line and making such statements is not a smart choice on your part. But you did word it in such a way it was published on The Hive. Of course, you worded it as a question because you are not man enough to just simply make your allegation. Maybe you would care to clarify the incident that took place on 9th st. in Modesto a few years back. You know, where the police found you in a secluded area known for drugs and prostitution? See Wayne Michaels, unlike you, I will ask you directly. So if you choose, explain Wayne.
