Looks like asking public figures to be accountable for their actions is not allowed in some forums, so I am on a timeout from The Bosses at The Bee's Hive. Probably do to the fact that a local supporter, and staff member, of wannabe politician Roberts Stanford, Emerson Drake, was arrested for growing,with intent to sell, marijuana, he was also accused of stealing power from MID. So when this bright light of truth was uncovered, Mr. Drake, aka truthseekers went into hiding for a few days until Robert and he came up with a plan to deal with it. And, with out fail Emerson denies the whole issue saying that the police lied, the Modesto Bee lied, and he never stole from MID. And now he continues to attack the ones who were involved in his arrest and conviction. So those who support Robert Stanford for Modesto City council, you are supporting a person who condones Emerson Drakes criminal record.....And Robert Stanford is still the man who says that Stanislaus county Sheriff officers are "murderers."

Canidate For Modesto Seat 4 May Have A Huge Problem

Robert Stanford has attacked local law enforcement and city council members. He also has a "staff" member; Emerson Drake, who has done the same and also has attacked MID. Now Modesto residents may know the reason why Emerson, and Robert, attack often without solid proof. There might be a possibilty that Emerson Drake has some legal issues. I am not saying for sure that this is the same Emerson Drake, and everybody deserves their day in court. So this person is innocent until proven guilty. Many Illegals Are Self Deporting

— Many immigrants have moved out. The percentage of foreign-born residents was lower in 2008 than the year before, as was the percentage of non-citizens.
— White, non-Hispanic residents became a minority in Stanislaus County last year for the first time.

I wouild ask two questions? Is the word immigrant being used in place of "illegal" and who cares what the color or racial make up is of the local population is as long as everyone is a legal resident? Of course the vast majority are illegals. Why I am asking these questions that most writers will not, "How many of the "immigrants" are fluent in English? Speaking and writing English is imporatnt for doing well in school and life here in America. There is an upside to "immigrants" leaving the area, less stress on social services the illegals are not entitled to thus spending less of my tax dollar. Test scores in school going up, less need for bi-lingual support and classes, heck, less traffic and crime. Sounds like a win win win situation. Let's hope the trend continues with "immigrants."
I am all for legal immigration as long as the numbers are regulated and background checks are done. As for the illegal immigrants? They can't self deport fast enough! And thanks for trashing our nation.

Well it's quickly becoming politics as usual in Modesto. Two candidates that have heavily financed campaigns due to developers, Real Estate groups who are salavating at the prospect and certain "business" groups who would ask the taxpayers and ratepayers of Modesto to finance their dreams of averice.
Joe Muratore and Kristin Olsen represent special interest groups and not the people of Modesto.
One shining example is Measure "M" which is an advisory question regarding five areas in North Modesto they want us to annex. Now if we do, it's a certainity that water and sewer rates will rise in order to lay the ground work for their greed. I ask you, is that what we want? Can you afford to take money out of the mouths of your family and give it to some of the same developers who brought us the Village I debacle?
It's bad enough that "M" is an advisory vote which means the City Council can damn well do what ever it feels like it regardless of the vote.
That's why we need to take a serious look at what the candidates really stand for and not just their claims.
Is Olsen an independent voice? Not by her actions or her connections and not by the money she's collected so far. The very same can be said about Joe Muratore. Much of their money flows from the same spigot. How do you think they collected the sums they have so far?
Of the seven people running for City Council in Modesto these two(Muratore and Olsen)are most closely linked to people who are concerned about lining their pockets with money they will take from us. Yes us the taxpayers, the rate payers...the Citizens of Modesto.

Another Person Causes Their Own Demise

Looks like another guy who refused to follow LE officers directions and began to fight with them has died from his unruly behavior. It is very simple, follow directions, wait for your day in court. Tasers have saved more lives than they have taken. Many cases, if it were not for a taser, LE officers would have used their firearms, and rightfuly so. So don't buy into the the deceitful words of some who dislike all LE officers, tasers have saved many LE officers lives, and have allowed them to return home to their families after doing a job that most people would not.

VAN Jones resigned as White House green-jobs czar after the public got a look at his history of radical activism, including his time building the so-called Apollo Alliance -- a coalition of left-wing interest groups unified around the green-jobs concept. But another, even more radical Jones (not related) is leading Apollo's New York state activities.
Jeff Jones was a domestic terrorist in the late '60s and a fugitive from justice throughout the '70s -- yet now he's a leader of an influential, taxpayer-funded group.
Jones was a fugitive from justice for 11 years. His own account at his Web site says: "As a leader of the Weather Underground, Jeff evaded an intense FBI manhunt for more than a decade. In 1981, they finally got him. Twenty special agents battered down the door of the Bronx apartment where he was living with his wife and four-year-old son."
With Mark Rudd and Bill Ayers, Jones in 1969 co-founded the radical Weatherman, which orchestrated the violent "Days of Rage" riots in Chicago, and later undertook an anti-government bombing campaign. Three of its members died when a bomb they were constructing to attack Fort Dix accidentally detonated in Greenwich Village.
And Jones is still proud of his terrorist activities -- saying as recently as 2004: "To this day, we still, lots of us, including me, still think it was the right thing to try to do."
Now, Jones is back to revolutionary organizing -- but with taxpayers footing the bill. He's the director of the Apollo Alliance's New York affiliate and a consultant to the national group.
Apollo unifies the three most powerful elements of the political left -- environmental groups, labor unions and street organizers like ACORN -- and points them toward a common goal that enriches all of them under the banner of "green jobs." (Van Jones was an Apollo board member until he joined the White House staff.)
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently credited Apollo with helping write the stimulus bill and getting it passed. Yet the stimulus' "green jobs" provisions funnel federal tax dollars to unions, green groups and community organizers -- that is, the organizations that make up Apollo.
Green jobs serve a political purpose, but not an economic one. The evidence from Spain and elsewhere is ample -- each green job created destroys more than two other jobs elsewhere in the economy.
Jeff Jones counts among his consulting clients (along with Apollo) a half-dozen state and local environmental groups and the Workforce Development Institute (WDI), a union-controlled organization ("developed in partnership with the NYS AFL-CIO," it says) that works with state and local government and universities.
WDI's mission is to support union influence on state and local governments. It gets state tax dollars to do it -- to the tune of $4.8 million in this year's Education, Labor and Family Assistance budget bill.
WDI is so tightly integrated with Apollo that it features a full page of Apollo information on its Web site (wdiny.org), which appears to be the primary Web presence of Apollo's New York branch. WDI encourages its members and program participants to attend Apollo Alliance events.
As a consultant to WDI, Jones is helping write the grant proposals for federal stimulus funds -- funds authorized in the bill Apollo helped write, presumably ensuring that taxpayer dollars end up in the hands of groups that share Apollo's political agenda.
Anyone should be entitled to spend his or her own money on political organizing, but Apollo and WDI are spending taxpayer dollars to organize a coalition of extreme environmentalists, labor unions and social-justice street organizers.
That's bad enough in itself, but to have the effort spearheaded by an unrepentant domestic terrorist is a true outrage.

Harvard Law School professor Cass R. Sunstein, the president's embattled nominee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, misfired one time too many.
Mr. Sunstein has been assuring Second Amendment advocates, including key Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, that he strongly believes the Constitution protects an individual right to bear arms. In a July 14 letter clarifying his positions at the request of the senator, Mr. Sunstein wrote: "Your first question involved the Second Amendment. I strongly believe that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to possess and use guns for purposes of both hunting and self-defense. I agree with the Supreme Court's decision in the Heller case, clearly recognizing the individual right to have guns for hunting and self-defense. If confirmed, I would respect the Second Amendment and the individual right that it recognizes."
There's no wiggle room in that statement, and Mr. Chambliss dropped his hold on the nomination based on Mr. Sunstein's assurances. But it turns out that the professor has held a certain contempt for the very viewpoint he suddenly claims to espouse.
A videotape has surfaced of a lecture Mr. Sunstein gave at the University of Chicago on Oct. 23, 2007. Here is what he said: "My coming view is that the individual right to bear arms reflects the success of an extremely aggressive and resourceful social movement and has much less to do with good standard legal arguments than [it] appears." Discussing the anti-gun laws in the District of Columbia, he said a critic of such strict gun control would say that a "trigger lock interferes with his efforts at self-defense against criminals. What on Earth does that have to do with the Second Amendment as originally understood?"
Later in the lecture, Mr. Sunstein said, "My tentative suggestion is that the individual right to have guns as it's being conceptualized now is best taken as a contemporary creation and a reflection of current fears - not a reading of civic-centered founding debates."
Mr. Sunstein's overt hostility to the idea that the Constitution protects an individual right to bear arms, including for purposes of self-defense, is not something that should be welcomed from somebody whose job might entail weighing in on the value of anti-gun regulations. It also makes his more recent assurances that he is a Second Amendment stalwart seem rather disingenuous, at the very least.

Modesto Tea Party, What the Bee Didn’t Show You
The conservative wing of the Republican Party threw a tea party at noon on August 14, at 1010 10th St. in the Plaza. Attending, along with at least one out of town minister, were local DJ Dave Diamond, George Petralakis (who is the political money dispenser and door man for the developers and Mike Zagaris), and Joan Clendenin, Vice-Chair of the Republican party along with about 150 of their friends.

Although most of the exchanges between the two groups were spirited, I was dismayed by something I saw on the teabaggers side. It was a sign being carried by a local and before it’s suggested, it wasn’t an ACORN plant. The sign was cheered by the rowdy throng of “baggers.” President Obama in white face and a swastika were prominently displayed.

Common Sense To Solve The USA's Debt

Lets start with the doing away with the current tax system and replacing it with a national tax. Next, close down social security, medicare and medicade. Return the money paid in to these programs to the people. Sure beats giving billions and trillions to these unconstitutional waste programs. Same with Fanny, Freddie, and any other program where the federal government is acting out of its role. Then, bring home all the troops world wide that are not in Iraq or Afghanistan. Then, extract 3 trillion dollars worth of oil from Iraq to cover their "freedom" tab. Lastly, place the troops that are brought home on both borders and at all ports of entry and international airports to inspect all non American citizens and non American shipments.
We have allowed too much of our personal duites to be given/taken over to the government, who use these programs to collect power and money, thus enslaving the American people.

The leftist media in this country has erupted in tributes to Ted Kennedy. Democrats praise him. Republicans praise him. Liberals praise him, conservatives praise him. And while we mourn when a man dies, does that mean that all criticism must stop? Does a man who spent his entire political life destroying the fundamental tenets of American morality become miraculously rehabilitated on his passing? Do conservatives stop being conservatives when such a man dies?
No! And yet it seems that the Republicans in Congress have forgotten what Ted Kennedy did to our borders. He voted no on a constitutional ban on flag desecration.
He voted no on a constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
He voted yes on adding sexual orientation to the definition of hate crimes.
He voted no on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds.
He voted yes on allowing illegals to participate in Social Security.
We cannot forget what he has done to our country.
And so now the Soros-run media sets on anyone who dares disclose the truth about Ted Kennedy. As in a Soviet show trial, persecution falls on anyone who refuses to take the party line that the great lying lion of the left must be praised. We will not be silenced. Silence is death. Speak the truth about Ted Kennedy. Americans must know his reckless record of destructive social engineering.

4 “(E) An explanation by the practitioner of the 5 continuum of end-of-life services and supports avail- 6 able, including palliative care and hospice, and bene 7 fits for such services and supports that are available 8 under this title. 9 “(F) (i) Subject to clause (ii), an explanation of 10 orders regarding life sustaining treatment or similar 11 orders, which shall include— 12 “(I) the reasons why the development of 13 such an order is beneficial to the individual and 14 the individual’s family and the reasons why 15 such an order should be updated periodically as 16 the health of the individual changes; 17 “(II) the information needed for an indi 18 vidual or legal surrogate to make informed deci 19 sions regarding the completion of such an 20 order; and 21 “(III) the identification of resources that 22 an individual may use to determine the require- 23 ments of the State in which such individual re- 24 sides so that the treatment wishes of that indi 25 vidual will be carried out if the individual is un 1 able to communicate those wishes, including re- 2 quirements regarding the designation of a sur 3 rogate decisionmaker (also known as a health 4 care proxy). 5 “(ii) The Secretary shall limit the requirement 6 for explanations under clause (i) to consultations 7 furnished in a State— 8 “(I) in which all legal barriers have been 9 addressed for enabling orders for life sustaining 10 treatment to constitute a set of medical orders 11 respected across all care settings; and 12 “(II) that has in effect a program for or- 13 ders for life sustaining treatment described in 14 clause (iii). 15 “(iii) A program for orders for life sustaining 16 treatment for a States described in this clause is a 17 program that— 18 “(I) ensures such orders are standardized 19 and uniquely identifiable throughout the State; 20 “(II) distributes or makes accessible such 21 orders to physicians and other health profes 22 sionals that (acting within the scope of the pro- 23 fessional’s authority under State law) may sign 24 orders for life sustaining treatment; 1 “(III) provides training for health care 2 professionals across the continuum of care 3 about the goals and use of orders for life sus- 4 taining treatment; and 5 “(IV) is guided by a coalition of stake- 6 holders includes representatives from emergency 7 medical services, emergency department physi 8 cians or nurses, state long-term care associa 9 tion, state medical association, state surveyors, 10 agency responsible for senior services, state de- 11 partment of health, state hospital association, 12 home health association, state bar association, 13 and state hospice association. 1 “(B) An advance care planning consultation with re- 2 spect to an individual may be conducted more frequently 3 than provided under paragraph (1) if there is a significant 4 change in the health condition of the individual, including 5 diagnosis of a chronic, progressive, life-limiting disease, a 6 life-threatening or terminal diagnosis or life-threatening 7 injury, or upon admission to a skilled nursing facility, a 8 long-term care facility (as defined by the Secretary), or 9 a hospice program. 10 “(4) A consultation under this subsection may in- 11 clude the formulation of an order regarding life sustaining 12 treatment or a similar order. 13 “(5)(A) For purposes of this section, the term ‘order 14 regarding life sustaining treatment’ means, with respect 15 to an individual, an actionable medical order relating to 16 the treatment of that individual that— 17 “(i) is signed and dated by a physician (as de- 18 fined in subsection (r)(1)) or another health care 19 professional (as specified by the Secretary and who 20 is acting within the scope of the professional’s au- 21 thority under State law in signing such an order, in- 22 cluding a nurse practitioner or physician assistant) 23 and is in a form that permits it to stay with the in- 24 dividual and be followed by health care professionals 25 and providers across the continuum of care;
1 “(ii) effectively communicates the individual’s 2 preferences regarding life sustaining treatment, in- 3 cluding an indication of the treatment and care de- 4 sired by the individual; 5 “(iii) is uniquely identifiable and standardized 6 within a given locality, region, or State (as identified 7 by the Secretary); and 8 “(iv) may incorporate any advance directive (as 9 defined in section 1866(f) (3)) if executed by the in- 10 dividual. 11 “(B) The level of treatment indicated under subpara 12 graph (A)(ii) may range from an indication for full treat- 13 ment to an indication to limit some or all or specified 14 interventions. Such indicated levels of treatment may in- 15 clude indications respecting, among other items— 16 “(i) the intensity of medical intervention if the 17 patient is pulse less, apneic, or has serious cardiac 18 or pulmonary problems; 19 “(ii) the individual’s desire regarding transfer 20 to a hospital or remaining at the current care set- 21 ting; 22 “(iii) the use of antibiotics; and 23 “(iv) the use of artificially administered nutri 24 tion and hydration.”.
Note that the ‘stakeholders’ will be the deciders here.

The case of Henry Louis Gates, chair of the Department of African-American Studies at Harvard, and his conflict with the local police with virulent charges of racism and racial profiling brings to the surface some interesting dichotomies with my friend and mentor, Michael Savage, and his present blacklisting by England and its recently uncovered collusion with America. Let's examine a few of them.
Gates is a very well-respected black academic at an elite educational institution, yet his oeuvre, in my opinion, is amateurish at best, partisan at worst. For example, in 2000 he and fellow race baiter Cornel West (now at Princeton) collaborated on a book, "The African American Century: 100 Black Americans Who Shaped America." Of course, I like many other academics was shocked to see that the most influential and intellectually affluent black man and black women in America, Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Janice Rogers Brown, were not even listed as part of the 100 most influential blacks, let alone even mentioned in a footnote by these two "scholars."
Michael Savage has two master's degrees and a doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley in the hard sciences
. His doctoral thesis was published by Harvard. He has written more than 25 books, five New York Times best-sellers. His radio show, "The Savage Nation" has between 8-10 million listeners per week. Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, Glenn Beck notwithstanding, Dr. Savage is the most intellectually astute and interesting radio host in America.

The Gates affair took place on July 21 when one of his neighbors called the police because she was concerned that two men appeared to be trying to break into professor's Gates house by repeatedly hitting against the front door. What turned out to be an innocent mistake on the neighbor's part could have been diffused by Gates when the white police officer came to investigate, but the good professor instantly visualized a race card and played it with all the skill of an Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton or Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson.

For the past several years, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) has funneled more than $3 million in earmarks to a company in his district to build an underwater “swimmer detection” sonar system for the Navy to use to protect its docks and ships.
But the company, KDH Defense Systems, sews bulletproof vests. It had never built a sonar system and had no expertise in sonar engineering. The sonar project was to be the first product of a new “startup” company.
Documents indicate the company did have a plan — which never came to pass — to partner with other local defense contractors close to Murtha, and it also had the assistance of a lobbying firm that employed both Murtha’s brother and his former appropriations aide.
The firm ultimately ended up hiring a British company to do the engineering, fell into a dispute, lost its original military customer and by the end of last year had completed a prototype, which the company president said would have to be re-engineered before it can be produced in any quantity.

However, if you wish to report a person(s) you may do so by calling United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (USICE) at 1-866-347-2423. It is advisable to contact the local ICE Field Office for a faster response. Most of the time if you call the main number, they will refer you to your local field office. Since 1991, Gates has been teaching African American studies at Harvard, where he serves as the director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. De Bois, an American civil rights activist, sociologist, historian and author, was an avowed communist and also a socialist sympathizer.
Du Bois was for a brief time a member of the Socialist Party. In 1927 he infamously traveled to the USSR, where he called the Soviet system "the most hopeful vehicle for the world." Eight years later, he published the book "Black Reconstruction," which offered a Marxist interpretation of the Reconstruction Era.
The leftist icon officially joined the communist cause in 1950, when he ran for the New York State Senate on the American Labor Party ticket. He lost the election, but eight years later joined Trotskyists, ex-communists, and independent radicals in proposing the creation of a united left-wing coalition to run for seats in New York State elections.
Du Bois joined the Communist Party USA in 1961. He emigrated to Ghana, where he became a naturalized citizen, living in the country's socialist police state. Two years later, the Communist Party named its new youth group the W.E.B. DuBois Clubs.
Serving as director for the Harvard institute immortalizing Du Bois, Gates cultivated black radicals to his race studies department, most prominently bringing in Cornel West, a controversial adviser on Louis Farrakhan's Million Man March with close ties to socialist and black extremist groups. West is a declared personal friend of Farrakhan.
Gates also lured to Harvard socialist sympathizer Kwame Anthony Appiah, a Ghanaian philosopher, cultural theorist and novelist, as well as William Julius Wilson, who is close to the Democrat Socialists of America.
Gates authored two books with West, a long-time member and honorary chair of the Democrat Socialists of America. West served on the black advisory board of Obama's presidential campaign.
From a young age, West proclaimed he admired “the sincere black militancy of Malcolm X, the defiant rage of the Black Panther Party … and the livid black [liberation] theology of James Cone.”
Cone's theology spawned Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's controversial pastor for 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ. West was a strong defender of Wright when the pastor's extreme remarks became national news during last year's campaign season.
Gates himself is a strong supporter of affirmative action and a key member of the reparations movement for the descendants of African slaves. He joined an effort to bring a class action lawsuit for reparations and reportedly has been working privately to urge political and business leaders to keep the issue of slavery at the forefront of social-justice discussions and to support his campaign for reparations.
One of Gates' major sources of intellectual inspiration is Herbert Aptheker, a seminal scholar of African-American history who was a radical American leftist. Aptheker was for decades a leading theorist of the Communist Party U.S.A. before resigning in 1991.
Gates was quoted stating Obama's election last year rivaled the day in 1862 when President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation and the day 101 years later when the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech.
"There's never been a moment like this in our lifetime, ever," Gates said.

With all the hub-bub flying around the arrest of Henry Gates at his home by Sergeant James M. Crowley, the usual lib/progressive spew crew automatically scream racism, and racial profiling. They broke into Gates' own home and a neighbor called reporting a home being entered by two black men. The officer responds and confronts them. So Gates shows ID and claims he lived there. But only a very few know how the discussion went from there. Because Gates was arrested for disorderly conduct, not breaking or entering. So did Mr. Gates run his mouth because he was seeing what he believes most white police officers do? Treat blacks more harshly than whites? Makes you wonder, Gates is already talking about making a documentary on the incident. I am glad to see officer Crawley standing behind his decision, and he has a crystal clean record to support him. He was the EMT who tried to save Reggie Lewis' life. But in the eyes of a true lib/progressive, he probably let him die!
This may turn out to be a professor who was quick enough to realize an opportunity to build his street cred thus giving him a bigger stage to promote his message; that agenda might be to self promote.

Now, 16 years later, he stands accused of racism by Gates, one of the foremost scholars on race in America. Gates had just arrived home to his Cambridge house from a trip abroad to find his front door stuck shut. As he and the driver who brought him from the airport tried to push it open, a passerby called police with a report of a possible break-in. Crowley arrived and demanded that Gates, now inside, show him identification. Crowley’s police report said Gates behaved belligerently when he questioned him, which Gates denied. Authorities dropped the charge Tuesday after it ignited accusations of racism.
But people who know Crowley were skeptical or outright dismissive of allegations of racism. A prominent defense lawyer, a neighbor of Crowley’s, his union, and fellow officers described him yesterday as a respected, and respectful, officer who performs his job well and has led his colleagues in diversity training.

And now more to the story......Chump and Chief calls police stupid and Gates called the officer a mofo and said he was only placing him under arrest because Gates is black! No Mr. Gates, if you call an officer a mofo, bro, you probably going to jail. If you are playing baseball, and you call the ump a mofo, you are hitting the showers early. Gates is all over t.v. getting what he wanted....lots of pub to push his agenda. B. Hussein O' claims he was once a college professor too, so of course he is going to back Gates without having all the facts. Sargent Crowley is a true American hero, he works to protect, serve, and save lives. The Sarge has nothing to apologize for. He is proving once again,like Joe the plumber, that when guys like BHO try to run down real Americans, they are exposed for the frauds that they truly are!

TJ Thompson Contradicts The Stereotype DOE Needs To Be Closed

Many kids, regardless of color are having problems in public school. One problem? Too much federal involvement, and too many social expermints going on. Add to that free lunches, before and after school programs and let us not forget the other biggie....poor parenting. It is time to close down the D.O. Education and all federal funding and return the control of schools to the cities,counties, and a limited state involvement. Also, only legal children of legal residents will have access to public schools. And public education will become a privilege after the 8th grade. Students who are discipline problems will no longer be able to attend public schools and the parents will be responsible. Private organizations, churches, and individuals should be encouraged to do what the feds are not supposed to do.
Though I disagree with T.J. Thompson about the feds stepping in when the parents are absent, or just not doing their job, I like his point that the sad condition of our educational system knows no color.

My alma mater, Shelbyville High School, in Shelbyville, Indiana was profiled in a Time Magazine article titled “Dropout Nation”, as well as on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’. In a town with over 95% of the population White, 1 of every 3 kids will not graduate High School. One in Three!!! This contradicts every major stereotype portrayed on TV and broadcast throughout society.
Sadly, too many people across this nation believe that the educational crisis is limited to the Urban, Black, or Latino populace. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. This epidemic is a national catastrophe. We are in an Educational State Of Emergency.
I believe that we cannot pass legislation and laws to curb this outbreak. The cure starts in the home and in the school. It is imperative upon the parents of our children to take charge. If there are no parents available, then the responsibility falls upon aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, grandparents, and even teachers. These children
need role model to encourage, nurture, and help them succeed.

What's Next, Mr. President -- Cardigans?

Barely six months into his presidency, Barack Obama seems to be driving south into that political speed trap known as Carter Country: a sad-sack landscape in which every major initiative meets not just with failure but with scorn from political allies and foes alike. According to a July 13 CBS News poll, the once-unassailable president's approval rating now stands at 57 percent, down 11 points from April. Half of Americans think the recession will last an additional two years or more, 52 percent think Obama is trying to "accomplish too much," and 57 percent think the country is on the "wrong track."
From a lousy cap-and-trade bill awaiting death in the Senate to a health-care reform agenda already weak in the knees to the failure of the stimulus to deliver promised jobs and economic activity, what once looked like a hope-tastic juggernaut is showing all the horsepower of a Chevy Cobalt. "Give it to me!" the president egged on a Michigan audience last week, pledging to "solve problems" and not "gripe" about the economic hand he was dealt.
Despite such bravura, Obama must be furtively reviewing the history of recent Democratic administrations for some kind of road map out of his post-100-days ditch.
So far, he seems to be skipping the chapter on Bill Clinton and his generally free-market economic policies and instead flipping back to the themes and comportment of Jimmy Carter. Like the 39th president, Obama has inherited an awful economy, dizzying budget deficits and a geopolitical situation as promising as Kim Jong Il's health. Like Carter, Obama is smart, moralistic and enamored of alternative energy schemes that were nonstarters back when America's best-known peanut farmer was installing solar panels at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Like Carter, Obama faces as much effective opposition from his own party's left wing as he does from an ardent but diminished GOP.
And perhaps most important, as with Carter, his specific policies are genuinely unpopular. The auto bailout -- which, incidentally, is illegal, springing as it has from a fund specifically earmarked for financial institutions -- has been reviled from the get-go, with opposition consistently polling north of 60 percent. Majorities have said no to bank bailouts and to cap and trade if it would make electricity significantly more expensive.

Mary Jo...40 Years Later

While it may have not been murder then, Teddy "Blonde N' The Pond" Kennedy has been able to enjoy life since that tragic night. Kennedy, a notorious booze hound, claimed that there was no alcohol involved and he tried, and failed, in his attempts to save Mary Jo. Of course, Teddy was driving the wrong way and he was unable to negotiate the bridge. He claims he returned to the party for help, but there were other homes closer that he had passed. Guess image and rep comes first to a Kennedy. After he returned with help, wink wink, he sent his buddies home and T.K. returned to his room to rest up for his lie making duties in the morning.
Well, looks like it won't be too much longer and T.K. will have to answer for what really happen. Or maybe he will fess up before he stumbles toward the bright light? Not a chance.

Unanswered questions
Why did they leave the party?
Mr. Kennedy said he was heading back to his hotel and would drop Ms. Kopechne at hers on the way, but it's unclear why he didn't have his driver take them, and why they left with one of the only two cars at the party, leaving one car for the remaining 10 people who also had to return to their hotels. Ms. Kopechne left her purse and hotel keys at the party, and no one recalls hearing her say why she was leaving the party. Mr. Kennedy says that they ended up driving away from the ferry by mistake.
Could Ms. Kopechne have been saved?
The diver who pulled her body out found it in the spot where an air pocket would have been, and speculated she could have survived for 25 minutes – enough time for a rescue.
Was Mr. Kennedy drunk driving?
Despite his reputation as a heavy drinker, he maintains he was not drunk. When he went to the police it was more than 10 hours after the accident and too late to test for alcohol. Ms. Kopechne had a blood alcohol level indicating she'd had three to five drinks.
Was there a cover-up?
Ms. Kopechne's parents allege people that were paid off not to tell the truth about the incident. The grand jury foreman says he was barred from calling key witnesses, and that the local police chief and district attorney took him aside to insist the incident was an accident, nothing more.

Mammy Dowd Again Shows The Racism From The Left/Libs

President Obama wants Sotomayor, naturally, to bring a fresh perspective to the court. It was a disgrace that W. appointed two white men to a court stocked with white men. And Sotomayor made it clear that she provides some spicy seasoning to a bench when she said in a speech: “I simply do not know exactly what the difference will be in my judging, but I accept there will be some based on gender and my Latina heritage.”
The judge’s full retreat from the notion that a different life experience is valuable was more than necessary and somewhat disappointing. But, as any clever job applicant knows, you must obscure as well as reveal, so she sidestepped the dreaded empathy questions — even though that’s why the president wants her.
Sarah Palin is the definition of irrational, a volatile and scattered country-music queen without the music. Her Republican fans defend her lack of application and intellect, happy to settle for her emotional electricity.
